Fine Art and Antiques from Southern Estates and Various Owners

February 14 – March 5, 2008

A large portion of the property in this sale, including many of the paintings and bronzes, comes from a Private Collector now based in Florida who lived much of his life in Washington D. C. and Houston, Texas. Most of his purchases were made in Europe in the 1970’s through 1990’s. Some of the highlights from his collection include the Filipppo de Pisis, Still Life of Fruit, Tsugoharu Foujita, watercolor of nuns, Alfred Boucher, Bronze of Runners, Hermann Herzog, Florida landscape and a collection of Cartier clocks.

There is a group of Contemporary works consigned by the Estate of Bernice Baker, former owner of IFA Gallery in Washington D.C. One of the highlights of this group is a lidded vase by ceramicist Peter Voulkos.

Much of the silver, glass and jewelry in the auction comes from a Savannah Estate. It was collected throughout the 1970’s and 80’s.

There is also an interesting group of Ancient, Ethnographic and South East Asian items from a Private Collector in Atlanta who collected during the 1960’s and 70’s.
