Fine Art and Antiques from Various Collectors including Gold Coins from the Estate of John C. Roman

This sale features a large group of property from the private collection of Dr. David Grode, a consummate collector with a keen eye. His collection contains several very nice American paintings including a Levi Wells Prentice (1851-1935) painting of Lake Erie and a Charles Morris Young (1869-1964) painting of Gettysburg. Also included in his collection is a group of Western art by mainly contemporary artists and highlighted by an Eliza Barchus (1857-1959), a well known Oregon artist. A good deal of the decorative arts in this sale also comes from his collection.

Other fine art highlights in the sale include two paintings of cabins by the Charleston artist William Aiken Walker (1838-1921) from a New York Estate and a Frederick MacMonnies (1863-1937) bronze of Pan from a private collection.

The decorative arts portion of the sale includes two nice American beds, several French armoires, several English and American chests, dining tables and chairs, a Meissen cobalt blue porcelain mantle clock, Mason’s ironstone platters, silver, a China Trade painting, two tapestries and much more.
